CAR SHOW
A couple of weekends ago we went to the Greenwood car show...it was a beautiful day and the car show itself seems to be getting bigger & bigger every year. As always, the people-watching did not disappoint. What did disappoint (for some of us), however, was the showing of Porsches. There weren't as many as one of us (I'll let you guess who) would have hoped. We had a good time anyway...Isaac got to check out an old city bus & walk in the middle of the street holding hands with his bud. What else could you ask for?

HIKING TO WALLACE FALLS
We have finally had some summer-like weather...ahhhh! So, last weekend we made it out for a hike. Although it was Brooke's debut (and she did very well, either sleeping or just hanging out), we were SO incredibly proud of Isaac! He walked nearly the entire 3 mile hike...he kept up a pretty good pace & was really great with navigating over the rocks & roots, over bridges, and up/down steps. The hike was along the river the whole way & ended up at a beautiful water fall. We parked ourselves on a log for lunch and then headed back down. Mike wore the backpack just in case it was a flop, but that proved to be totally unnecessary as Isaac wanted nothing to do with that!GOOD-BYE TREE
I know, it sounds awful to cut down a gorgeous 80-100 ft tree that has been here forever, but seriously...it was in the MIDDLE of the yard & really blocked out a ton of sunlight. It had to go. It was either now or later, so we bit the bullet & opted for now. We can already tell a huge difference with the amount of afternoon sun we will get, the amount of light in the house, and the space it opened up in the yard.
BEFORE
It was a very interesting process to watch...they cut down all of the limbs on the way up, and then they start cutting the trunk of the tree down from the top. If you look VERY closely, you can see Jerry-the-tree-guy way up there on the right side of the trunk.
AFTER
Just to put it in perspective...

After a busy weekend & long day's work today...supervising cutting down the tree, playing outside & at the park, and then going for a walk. That's enough for any 3-year-old (especially one who no longer naps)! In fact, he fell asleep about 5 pm in the stroller, we carried him inside & he stayed asleep on the couch, and we finally carried him up to bed at 6:45 pm! Time will tell if I'm up at 4 am with him tomorrow!
