The "Big Trip"

I know, I know...it's taken me a ridiculous amount of time to post these pictures, so for those anxiously awaiting, I apologize! It has been a crazy few weeks since we've been back from our nearly 3 week trip to TX and the midwest...and to be honest, going through almost 1,000 pictures was a bit daunting! It was a trip we were SOOO looking forward to & we took full advantage of Mike's paternity leave. Beware, LOTS of pictures to follow! If you want to see even more, I have put them in the "Additional photos" link on the right side of the page.

We started the trip in Texas, visiting Grandy, and meeting up with Nana. We thought that Isaac would be shy at first, but he dove right in, giving Grandy hugs & sitting on his lap, wanting Grandy to sit next to him while he played, and going for a golf cart ride around the yard. It was also the first time Grandy has met Brooke, and he was truely smitten with his little great-granddaughter! Brooke went in the water for the first time at the pool & if kicking her feet constantly was any indication, she loved it!

Then, our travels took us to Peoria. We were expecting the heat in Texas, but HOLY COW...it was hot in Peoria! We met Aunt Jenny's doggie, Bella, and reunited with our "wiggly woo" Wrigley...she growled at first, but then quickly remembered us & was up to her normal beloved habits, like hitting your hand with her nose until we pet her! We had some great family time hanging out in the A/C, Isaac helped Granddad pick his ripe tomatoes, we went out to lunch & "toured" the riverfront in Peoria, and braved the heat & took at trainride at a wildlife preserve where most of the animals were hiding in the shade!

From Peoria, were went to Grand Haven, MI, where we met up with the Geers clan & extended family. It had been a while, so it was great to see everyone! The house was great, right on the beach.

No, Allison is not just being modest...she is protecting literally every inch of her body from the biting flies!

Popcorn in downtown Grand Haven during a rainy afternoon

Tyler & Ryan, pooped from the day....or too much to drink?!?! ...Now onto Naperville for our final destination. Brooke was baptized, we went on an architectural boat tour in Chicago, went to a neighborhood pool complete w/ a sand play area & sprinkler park, played in the lake & did some fishing (note that Mike is having Papa help him bait the hook & take the fish off!), went to Oakpark to visit the Huffmans, and had family pics taken downtown Naperville.

On the boat tour...
The boys...making some progress on the patio!
...and the little helpers

Making it out for delicious tapas & Sangria...sans kids!
