We left last Thursday evening & made it to Eugene, OR that night. We had breakfast & walked around the Univ. of Oregon campus before heading out to Loomis, CA to see Britt & Kenny. We had a great visit with them with lots of hang-out time, going to a cute market, doing some wine tasting, and heading downtown Sacramento for dinner & "2nd Saturday" festival. Mike's highlight was driving Kenny's new Porsche 911. I'm hopeful this will tide him over for a bit:) From Loomis, we made it to Walnut Creek to see the Swanson's for a fun, yet bit more chaotic couple of days. We were thrilled to finally meet Willa (3 yo) and the new twin girls, Greer & Natalie (1 yo). Willa seemed to have quite the crush on Isaac & was really sweet & nurturing, always concerned if he became upset. Although he was alittle intimidated by the attention from an olderwoman, it was so cute to see them together. We were so impressed by the Oakland zoo where Isaac pet some goats for the 1st time & "tried out" some of the rides (see pics below!).
We then headed north to Ashland, OR which is close to the CA border & a logical stopping point for the night. Although we were just there for dinner and a few hours to walk around, we were really impressed. It was a quaint little hippy Shakespearean town, with cute little shops, a great park and creek running through the middle of town. We made it to Crater Lake the next day...it was truely an amazing sight & the bluest water I have ever seen. And then...we went to Bend, OR for the final few days of our trip. Bend is a layed-back, active, and really charming city. It is so functional, with the Deschutes River being the center of everything. We did a ton of walking around town and were super jealous (it was mid-90's) of the people floating down the river in rafts & tubes. We loved spending time in Drake Park (downtown on the river), went on some short hikes to see a panoramic view of the area and to check out Tumalo Falls, and of course, spent plenty of time in a few of the many breweries in the area.
Isaac seems to be talking even more since we've been on our trip...the funniest thing he started asking was, "What's that noise, Mommy/Daddy?" whenever he hears something odd (which is often). He is not the easiest to photograph these days, as he either gets upset when he see's the camera come out, or he wants to "see Isaac" and lunges toward the camera, so I have to try to catch him by surprise!
