Isaac is THREE!

We celebrated Isaac's 3rd birthday the weekend before his actual birthday, which was this past Friday, May 6th. We had a wonderful time with friends & with the exception of being kind of freaked out by everyone singing to him, he actually really got into it this year! He was SO excited to blow out the candles on the cake and after he opened each of his presents he would say, "should we open it up?" b/c he wanted to play with each of them right away! Then, on his actual birthday, the day was all about him...we went to the Children's Museum (his 1st choice, the zoo, got rained out), had pizza for dinner, and then opened up even more presents! What a lucky little boy! Thank you to everyone for your generosity! Since his birthday, among playing with all of his other new toys, he has been busy following Daddy around the backyard with his new lawn tools and wheelbarrow! He mimics Mike perfectly...he piles dirt into his wheelbarrow, dumps the dirt out, and says "ahhh, man" with a big sigh. He leans up his rake against the house, and sticks his shovel in the dirt when he's not using it. So funny. He has also been really excited about his new big-boy clock...it turns color in the AM when it's time to get up, so the past few mornings, he has been at the side of our bed at 7 AM on the dot saying, "my clock turned green, it's daytime, time to get up!" Despite the fact that we feel as though we have entered the "terrible 2" stage over the past several of weeks, we continue to be so proud of him. He is getting to be extremely imaginative & we love to watch him play and talk to himself when he doesn't think we are looking!

Couldn't resist posting the pics below...I'm sure you can imagine how this scenario played out...

Isaac: "mom, I have to pee"

Mom: "just smile, you can go pee in a minute..."

Isaac puts on his best fake smile (reference 1st picture)

Mom: "come on, Isaac, just give me a nice smile, then you can go pee"

Isaac: "but, I gotta go BAAAAD!!!" (reference 2nd picture)

Our best attempt at a smile from all kids!

Ahh, yes...the wheelbarrow!
